This museum surprised me. I expected it to be nice but minor. But I ended up spending a good chunk of time, as I got a sense of history, from the pre-classical Ancient Greek time to 19th century revolution, to modern times. It has ancient artefacts, paintings, watercolors, old weapons, ships, navigation instruments, a wonderful stamp collection, and so much more. Above all, I appreciated the way it was curated, giving you a sense of place and time. Don’t skip this museum.

Housed in a beautifully restored mansion on the prettiest street in Galaxidi. Fascinating collection of all things nautical. Displays are really well-presented and give one an excellent insight into Galaxidi's impressive maritime history. Recommended.

This was a very pleasant surprise. To be honest we went here as there wasn't much else to do on a Sunday morning in Galaxidi. But, in fact, we were very pleasantly surprised. The collection is very well presented and there are many clear explanations in English. You can learn a lot about the maritime history of Galaxidi, with some fascinating accounts of regular trading routes of Galaxidi ships, including as far as Liverpool (my home town), Swansea and the North Sea! Downstairs there is a whole collection of paintings of Galaxidi boats which again are attractively presented and more interesting than this make them sound!

This museum in Galaxidi is amazingly professional for such a small town. Our visit to the museum punctuated our 3-day stay in Galaxidi, bringing the city's past to life and added a richness to our experience. The presentation spans local archeological finds with a compelling telling of the story of the town's history as a pre-eminent maritime center in Greece. It was fun walking around the docks in this quaint port town after our visit imagining what it must have been like in the age of the tall sailing ships.

The only museum in Galaxidy, which is small town, but has a very long history! In Maritime museum can see different periods of Galaxidi - from iron age to navi heroic times of 19-20 centuries.

We drove a 33 km circuit from Itea hotel to visit this beautiful town, parking across the port to walk the pine promenade up to the Seafarer Monument. At this museum, we paid 2 euros each to stroll its 5 rooms of nicely displayed items, all noted in English. They included; Archaeological finds with a 1900 BC 2 handled amphora found at a shipwreck site, 19th C weapons with a nice Ottoman rifle collection and the balance focused on this port’s 19th C shipbuilding boom. It peaked in 1870, building over 100 large sailing vessels with many displayed in pictures and models, then instruments, ship figureheads, block and tackle display and a vast collection of period stamps.

This is a small, but well-curated museum filled with interesting nautical paraphernalia and paintings. You can easily go through the museum in an hour and have a good knowledge of ship-building and the naval history of the area.

Thia rather unique museum is a must visit while being at beautiful Galaxidi. I would rather say that this is a hidden jem. It has ancient artifacts, paintings, watercolors, old weapons, ships, navigation instruments, a wonderful stamp collection and it units the ancient with the maritime, rather unique. As Galaxidi has a great ship-building history, this museum consists of a great way to explore more to the city's ancient times. It is well laid out and the displays provide information in several languages. A truly must-see museum
