The Seaman’s Pension Fund

In 1863 the Navy Captain, Gerasimos Zochios, founded the Seaman’s Pension Fund. To honour this great benefactor of sea-farers, the people of Galaxidi erected his bust in the square of Chirolakas. Each year they hold a memorial service for him and lay down a wreath to show their gratitude.
