ISLET OF AGIOS GEORGIOS

In 1970 the English archaeologist, S. Hood, had noted the existence of a shelter-settlement on the islet of Agios Georgios near Galaxidi. From the potsherds he found during a superficial exploration there, he dated the settlement to the Late Roman to Early Byzantine periods.The discovery of a few coins during a recent, also superficial, exploration confirms Hood’s opinion.
